Currently the home of Russell’s policeman, this historic house designed in the 1860s functioned as a Custom House until the 1890’s. Pompallier Mission, a pioneer printery & tannery, was established by French Marist missionaries, to print & bind religious texts translated into Maori. The historic building is an example of French rammed-earth architecture.
